About Me

Hello, my name is Remy Burley, and I am a Canadian movement worker, behaviour consultant, and coach located near London, Ontario. As a Human, I am deeply in-progress, and committed to learning in real time as a forever student. Below are a few of the places I've travelled to on my journey of becoming:

My Education and Qualifications:

2020-2022 - Worked as a stable employee and working student at dressage barns and breeding facilities.

While these experiences would provide me with lessons in perseverance, they also exposed me first-hand to the harm caused by modern-era approaches to Horse training, breeding, and labor practices. It was in recovering from these experiences that I would learn the most about caring-with troubled Horses, in ways that I continue to bring to my practice today.

May 2023 - Started the Certified Equine Ergonomist Course by SaddleFit4Life and earned my certification as a CEE in June of 2024.

This course would provide me with my foundational education in saddle fitting, and also help me develop as an equine professional during the 30 practical assignments of my externship.

By mid-2023 I was schooling first-level classical dressage and journeying into working equitation, but It was in June of 2023 that I made the switch to +R training with a focus on liberty and groundwork, and began training others' Horses to gain experience. I have worked with over 30 Horses personally since 2023, and I am incredibly grateful to all of the people who chose to share their horses with me, and to the Horses who allowed me to learn along with them.

October 2023 - Audited The Willing Equine clinic taught by Adele Shaw and hosted by Brianna Ferguson of Evergreen Equine.

I like to say that I was 'reborn' at this clinic. Being surrounded by a whole community of people who trained in such compassionate ways served as an initiation. This space gave me the confidence and skill I needed to finally commit to using positive reinforcement for all of my training. There was no going back.

November 2023 - Took the Pain Science and Performance Course by Kathy Sierra of Pantherflows.

This course has served as a foundation for my research into modern movement science through an ecological dynamics framework, and invited me in to a community of badass context-designers who continue to challenge our assumptions about what it means to move, live, and train well. Kathy has become a friend and mentor to me, and we continue to talk regularly.

January - May 2024 - Participated in the Equi-Bow Foundations courses by Equi-Bow Canada.

These courses provided me with a deeper knowledge of anatomy and started my education into manual equine bodywork.

April 2024 - Joined the 'Cleaning Up the Contact Zone' course by Shannon Beahen of Humminghorse Equestrian.

Shannon's writings on her substack 'More Than Human with Humminghorse' serve as foundational texts within my practice, and were my first introduction to Post-Humanism. Cleaning Up the Contact Zone helped me to refine my practice of staying, in the sticky and subversive tangles that constitute relationships with both Human and More-Than-Human others. I have continued working with Shannon since, who continues to challenge me and help me grow as both a Human and Horse-person.

June 2024 - Took the BTMM Masterclass by Celeste Leilani-Lazaris of the Balance Through Movement Method.

Celeste's framework for Pillar One as the relationship to connection has taught me how to orient towards ease, as a foundation for all that comes ahead. This program and community has given me a necessary anatomical insight into the mechanics of movement and collection, and a deeper felt-sense understanding of expressive movement.

July 2024 - Signed the Intrinzen Context-Designers Creed

To certify that I follow the movement science principles of Intrinzen 100% in all of my coaching, and to continue my development as a coach in conversation with other professionals.

September 2024 - Began the Diploma of Equine Studies program by Equine Guelph

This diploma program has allowed me to continue my formal academic education in Equine Science, and take courses focusing on management, disease prevention, nutrition, behaviour, anatomy, and more. I am on track to graduate this program in 2027.

October 2024 - became an intern with Brie Simpson of PATH Equestrian in Caledon, ON.

Through internship I have gained valuable skills in cooperative care for veterinary procedures, training husbandry skills with young and green Horses, and experience with track systems and enrichment. I had the opportunity to receive mentorship from a who are asking, and in the attempt of answering, questions about what the Horse world might look like if Equine welfare were truly at heart.

October 2024  - flew to the UK for a week of training with WOW Saddles.

In a week of intensive saddle fitting training with David Kempsell of WOW Saddles, I gained much more experience with fitting for asymmetry, and the specialized process of creating a saddle tailored to the specific needs of Horses and riders.

January 2025 - Accepted a position at my local Humane Society.

This position has shaped me into a more confident, upstanding, and mature version of myself, and taught me so much about how to stay in times of crisis. I have gained so much more experience in applying behavioural science and positive-reinforcement based techniques cross-species, working with animals such as domestic dogs, cats, birds, and rabbits, with the occasional wild animal.

January 2025 - Became a studying member of the International Association of Animal Behaviour Consultants (IAABC).

As a studying member, I am held to the same standards as certified members, and agree to follow the Humane Hierarchy and Least Invasive Minimally Aversive protocols for behaviour change.

May 2025 - Joined the Emotional Horsemanship Foundations Course.

Lockie's teachings have deepened my theoretical understanding of Equine emotional experiences, and taught me techniques to inspire the emotional phenomena of care in relationship with the Horses.

July 2025 - Joined The Willing Equine Academy.

I completed The WIlling Equine Foundations course in September of 2025, and this education has deepened my understanding of the art and science of positive reinforcement for Horses, and helped me grow into an even more consistent and knowledgeable trainer.

I believe very strongly in continuing to learn, grow, and change over time. As such, I will continue to explore and engage with new ideas, and update my qualifications as I continue on my journey.
